In the Ghetto!

I moved!!! First of all: I can't thank everyone who helped me move enough. It went great and took a little over 3 hours from the time I got the UHAUL home to when everything was officially off the truck and into the new place. I couldn't imagine doing it alone so THANK YOU!!! And I've discovered it's much easier driving a truck when you're only staying local and not towing a car. For 24 years old, I have WAY too much truck driving experience. (Anyone want to hire me out to drive their moving truck, I am available for a low low price :P)

It took me a while to get everything unpacked and I'm still confused about where I put some items, but I'll get used to it (hopefully!) My new place is pretty adorable and definitely feels more home-y than any other apartment I ever had. I just have to get used to the old house "occasional creak in the wood floor" and the "how hard do I have to push to get this window open" Echo also needs to adjust to the lack of traction in a carpet free home. Take a peek!

Place where I eat only when people are over

Although only about 15 miles from my previous apartment, I feel like I'm in a new city and I am so disoriented! I've been struggling to find the nearest grocery store. In my (mini) travels, I have discovered that by going slightly north and slightly east, my extra pale whiteness becomes super apparent as I no longer look like the population majority (one of these things is not like the other one! One of these things just doesn't belong!). One grocery store I stopped in had a security guard making frequent rounds! He was either really friendly and that's why he kept talking to me, or he was concerned for my safety as I was the only white person, so he stuck nearby. Not quite sure. I'm hoping he as just friendly but either way I've never had a personal shopper before! I also ordered a pizza the other night and in picking it up I noted there was a dirty diaper in the parking lot (eew...and I still ate there...that might be more eew.), large (bullet proof?) barriers separating customers from pizzas employees (like a bank!) and a notice inside my pizza box offering a reward to anyone with information about violence against pizza employees (seriously!?). I don't think I'll get pizza from there again. But hey, my apartment is adorable!

I'm not really in the bad part of town though and feel very safe where I am (maybe it's still that bear spray I'm packin'!). And my route to work is through a nice neighborhood so I can even ride my bike! My first ride to work wasn't quite so successful though as my 6.5 month old pretty smartphone took flight off my bike and got lost somewhere along the way. Search and rescue attempts were futile. Online phone location null and void. Craiglist lost and found ad placed (though not hopeful). I picture a very tech saavy homeless man is thrilled with the find and making a plethora of international calls to his thousand and one Facebook friends. Either that or dialing up some sex hotline. In actuality though, I called Verizon and they have (supposedly) rendered the device unusable so even if it got picked up, it's pretty useless to whomever has it. Dammit, if I can't use it- No one can! I have now regressed back into the jurassic period with my older than dirt spare phone (ok, not as bad as a Zack Morris cellular device, but almost!) and lack of cable in the new place (the latter being by choice, but I am feeling some withdraw symptoms. Besides missing Shark Week: I know it's pure trash, but (insert shitty show here: ie, Bridezillas, Teen Mom, Keeping up with the Kardashians etc) is so addicting!!!) I just gotta think how much money and time I'm saving to apply to better hobbies!

By the way...anyone know any good hobbies?

P.S. If you need my new address - just ask! And come visit!
