God Bless 'Merica! I went to the Indy 500 with a long lost friend from California, Bryan! Nothing screams patriotism quite like watching foreign cars drive in endless circles! I never would have thought I would have enjoyed it - but it was a blast. We even got to sneak up into a suite during the 2nd half of the race. Men take note: The in fashion statement was cut-off jean shorts. Ow oow!!
Apparently my default pose
Apparently Kurt Vonnegut is from Indy and they are very proud
It was a wee bit crowded
Next up on deck: I met my favorite mama in N'awleans for some mother/daughter bonding! I'm so lucky to have such a great mama who I am guaranteed to laugh with no matter what the circumstance! We went on ghost tours, scavenger hunts, ate all the local cuisine, listened to music (even the unfortunate daily calliope we had to suffer through from our hotel room), went to the tomato festival, and overall had a wonder time!
Mmmmmmm - beignets! And face painted like a true adult!
We wouldn't be true southern belle's without oversized hats
The 'payment'requested from the street performer after mom asked him for directions. Not sure if it's more embarrassing that I'm in the photo....or that my mom took it for us!
Beautiful French Quarter balcony
The grave of Marie Laveau (famous Voodoo queen)
The future burial place of Nicholas Cage (what a weirdo!)
Sippin' hurricanes at Pat O's
French Quarter: In front of Jackson Square
St. Louis Cathedral
Feeling my inner jazz - working that air trombone
Meanwhile on Bourbon Street.
So I met the man of my dreams...
Dueling pianos
Gorgeous homes in the Garden District
Oysters Rockafeller
Creole tomatoes - like regular tomatoes...only in Louisiana.
Not all my summer hoot-n-nannies happened outside Wisconsin! There were plenty of random things to do right near home! Like....
Trick Horse Riding:
My circus class instructor! Yea- she's pretty awesome
Annoying the people at David's Bridal by insisting you're getting married next February simply to try on poofy dresses with your friends:
Who knew brides wore such...sensual? underwear beneath those gorgeous dresses?
This dress gave you extra junk in the trunk!
Kayaking through Downtown Milwaukee:
Cutting my friend off - women drivers - amIright?
I learned all about dragon boating with this cool cat (who also indulged me with state fair, six flags, zoo, and bounce castle shenanigans):
If more photos crop up (such as aforementioned bounce castle nonsense) I'll be sure to share!
On that note: See you after my trip!!!
It's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring
